THE HISTORY OF TURKISH CERAMICS

Turkish ceramics originated in iznik and can be traced as far back as the Uygurs of the 8th and  9th centuries.

Prior to the 17th century the traditional designs included plant motifs, arabesques, and chinese clouds.

Later there was a shift towards a more naturalistic style in wich tulips, carnations, hyacinths, roses, spring blooms, lilies, cypress trees and clusters of grapes and vine leaves appeared.
